Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album
The Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album is an honor presented annually at the Latin Grammy Awards, a ceremony that recognizes excellence and creates a wider awareness of cultural diversity and contributions of Latin recording artists in the United States and internationally [1]. The award goes to solo artists, duos, or groups for releasing vocal or instrumental albums containing at least 51% of new recordings [2].
The award was first given out at the at the first Latin Grammy Awards ceremony however from 2001 to 2009 the category was split between Best Rock Solo Vocal Album and Best Rock Vocal Album, Duo or Group. In 2010 the category was then reintroduced.
Mexican alternative rock band Café Tacvba were the first winners in 2000 with the album Revés/Yo Soy [3]. The current holder are the mexican group Maná with the album Drama y Luz. To date no performer has received a nomination or win this award more than once.
